Thanks to European Structural Funds (ROP-ERDF 2007-2013) the Emilia-Romagna Region has promoted the establishment of a network of 10 infrastructures located throughout the region called Technopoles, dedicated to industrial research, experimental development and technology transfer. One of these structures was created in collaboration with the National Research Council (CNR) and is dedicated to industrial research and economic development of research in the fields of material science and technology and the environment.
Bologna CNR Technopole is focused on the development of consumer goods and advanced eco-sustainable devices, the new generation of sustainable manufacturing, and on the design and implementation of innovative equipment and services for monitoring and environmental remediation. The Program Agreement between the Emilia-Romagna Region and the CNR for the creation of the AMBIMAT Technopole includes, among other things, the realization, at the CNR Research Area on Via Gobetti 101 Bologna, of an infrastructural project of € 3 million to permanently host two industrial research consortia: MIST E-R and PROAMBIENTE. The funds allocated come in 30% from the CNR and 70% from the Region with ERDF funds.
To the infrastructural project is added the important project of the launch of MIST E-R, the Industrial Research and Technology Transfer Laboratory located in the Bologna CNR Technopole, of a total cost of 12M €, with a contribution from the Emilia-Romagna Region equal to 50% on the activity I.1.1 of ROP ERDF 2007-2013 “Creation of Technopoles for industrial research and technology transfer”, through:
- Investments in equipment and facilities necessary for the operation of laboratories and of interest for companies realized by CNR with a total cost of € 6 M
- Industrial research activities and technology transfer in the field of new materials and micro- and nanotechnologies carried out by MIST E-R with a total cost of € 6m
