Microextruder, entirely based on MEMS technology on silicon and developed in collaboratorio with MEDICA SpA and IMM-CNR, was designed to obtain capillar, thin-walled tubes having a diameter of 100 μm suitable for the fabbricatin of biomedical filters.
The device consists of an inlet for a molten polymer, a channel, a reservoir, a micronozzle of 100 μm diameter and an inlet for water under pressure. During the process of extrusion, a molten polymer is pushed towards the micronozzle while water under the specific pressure activates the polymerization process.
