The DIGIMAN project fits perfectly into the development and innovation scenario envisaged by the Industry 4.0 plan in manufacturing. DIGIMAN proposes the development of a Cyber Physical System that responds to market demands with a framework that embraces and completes the machine (Physics part) coupled with an Augmented Manufacturing Platform or AMP (Cyber part). The platform will have to interface with the processes and the machines through appropriate modules with high engineering content (Engineering), formalize the knowledge of operators and business experts and possess self-learning skills. The main objective will be the ability to improve, even in real time, the quality of the products and the ability to infer on the status of the process, machines and components by proposing intervention strategies (Virtual Operator).
The DIGIMAN’s goal is to realize a Cyber-Physical system prototype that declines the functionalities of the Augmented Manufacturing Platform AMP to an industrial case study. In particular, we plan to develop a “Cyber” module, also called AMP, and to integrate it into a chip removal work center. We also plan to develop innovative sensor tools and solutions for the characterization of the cutting process and the output of the processing, and to operate direct control and implementation actions.
