Innovative flexible ionizing radiation detectors (X and gamma rays) manufacturing based on advanced materials (thin organic and hybrid semiconductor films) with high sensitivity. The detectors will be made up of light and flexible 2D matrices, made with industrially scalable micro and nanotechnological processes and with a low energy budget. Two different prototypes of ionizing radiation detectors are foreseen (TRL5 / 6): • SAFEINJECT: wearable patch for real-time control and risk reduction associated with radiotherapy and nuclear medicine treatments • DENTALGUARD: wide area 2D sensor array for medical diagnostic (dental)


Compared to the currently available ionizing radiation detectors, the Fortress prototypes will be able to better meet the requirements of: 1. greater conformability to (human) surfaces under irradiation 2. less interference, due to the lower radiation absorption dose 3. greater area active (today typically <1mm2)
