{"id":11261,"date":"2023-03-01T12:50:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T11:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/progetti\/lca-to-analyze-environmental-impacts\/"},"modified":"2023-03-01T14:38:48","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T13:38:48","slug":"lca-to-analyze-environmental-impacts","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/projects\/lca-to-analyze-environmental-impacts\/","title":{"rendered":"LCA to analyze environmental impacts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda (UN, 2015) and the <strong>European Green Deal<\/strong> priority policy are pushing countries to adopt political, economic and social strategies aimed at global sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the focus is on <strong>environmental problems and climate change<\/strong>, which severely threaten biodiversity conservation both in Europe and the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, the <strong>EU is investing<\/strong> so that all member states can take actions that can positively impact the environment.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, <strong>companies can play a key role<\/strong> and act as drivers in implementing processes that can be effectively environmentally sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>A<strong>product&#8217;s or a process&#8217; sustainability<\/strong> can be demonstrated through a measurement tool: the<em><strong> Life Cycle Assesment (LCA)<\/strong><\/em> is a standardized methodology used to assess, quantify and rank the potential environmental impacts associated with a product, process or system by considering its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to end of life.<\/p>\n<p>LCA is thus a method that can steer a process of any kind toward a circular economy system, with the aim of minimizing the amount of waste and maximizing recycling\/reuse.<\/p>\n<p>The LCA study in accordance with the ISO 14040 series of standards involves <strong>four steps<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>definition of goals and context;<\/li>\n<li>inventory analysis (Life Cycle Inventory, LCI);<\/li>\n<li>Life Cycle Impact Assesment (LCIA);<\/li>\n<li>interpretation of results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/processo-LCA-ita.webp\" alt=\"Mister smart innovation_processo LCA eng\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/processo-LCA-ita.webp 1280w, https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/processo-LCA-ita-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/processo-LCA-ita-1024x576.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/processo-LCA-ita-768x432.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #a8a8a8;\">Overview of the phases of an LCA study (Source: ILCD Handbook International Reference Life Cycle Data System, European Commission Joint Research Centre Institute for Environment and Sustainability).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":11260,"template":"","industry":[599],"class_list":["post-11261","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","industry-green-transition-en"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project\/11261","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/project"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/11260"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=11261"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"industry","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.laboratoriomister.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/industry?post=11261"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
