MISTER promotes and participates in research projects that develop innovative systems and applications with the aim of creating new products and processes and opening new markets.
MISTER, a public-private partnership between CNR, universities and companies, represents the most suitable instrument to ensure development and innovation in the industrial landscape. The dynamic structure allows fast response to the requests of companies and at the same time the highly qualified team totally dedicated to industrial research allows the conclusion of projects in an effective and timely manner.
The roles of the academic members, Universities and CNRs, and of the MISTER laboratory remain separate but strictly linked to support the activities and purposes of each other. For this reason, it is useful to recall the concept of Technology Readiness Level (TRL), which indicates a methodology for assessing the degree of maturity of a technology and which is now widely used by the European Commission. The scale goes from TRL 1 (basic principles observed) up to TRL 9 (actual system proven in operational environment). According to this method, the fundamental research and demonstration of new concepts developed up to TRL 3 (proof of concept) falls within the competences and purposes of the academic partners, while the development at Technology Readiness Level higher and typical of precompetitive development, from TRL 4 (technology validated in lab) to TRL 7 (system prototype demonstration in operational environment), together with services to companies, are the focus of the following research activities of MISTER.
